Official biography

Nataliia Temnyk is a Ukrainian soprano whose powerful voice and sincere expression has charmed audiences in Europe and in Canada.

Her creative path began in the picturesque Lviv Region, Western Ukraine, where she absorbed a rich musical background from an early age.

She began studying at Kryvyi Rih music college where she received a diploma in singing and choral conducting. 

Nataliia received a PhD from the renowned A. V. Nezhdanova National Academy of Music in Odesa. She acquired a brilliant technique and a deep understanding of the art of opera.

Her performances were always sold out, and critics noted her natural stage charisma and emotional depth of performance.

Nataliia won numerous awards at prestigious competitions including;

2019 3rd Place and Audience Award –
Wagner Society Singing Competition, Wigmore Hall, London

2017 2nd place – 10th Sabin V. Dragoi International Vocalist Competition, Romania.

2016 Certificate of Honor – 3rd International Christmas Competition of Vocalists, Belarus.

2013 Grand Prix – 2nd International Competition “Country of the Sun”, Odesa, Ukraine

 Not only is she an accomplished singer, she is a true ambassador of the richness of Ukrainian culture through her repertoire of Ukrainian opera, art songs and folk songs.

Here are some of Nataliia Temnyk’s most notable achievements:

2024 – Annamaria Bamji Award for Emergency Opera Singers for her contribution to Pacific Opera and the Coloratura project.

2024 – Highlands Opera Studio, Ontario, Canada.

2024 – Debut at Pacific Opera Victoria chorus – “The Marriage of Figaro”.
2022 – We Stand with Ukraine fundraising concert- Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts, Kingston, Ontario.
2022 – Concert for Ukraine with the Cantibus Choir Ensemble, St. Anne’s Church, Manchester, Great Britain

2019-2022 Opera Viva, Liverpool, Great Britain numerous concerts

2017 – Odesa Philharmonic, Ukraine

2016 – Minsk Opera Theater, Belarus

2013 – Opera House, Odesa, Ukraine

2012 – Music Festival “Kalyna”, Alushta, Crimea, Ukraine

2013-2018. Numerous concerts in churches, museums, and concert halls of Odessa,Ukraine.

She is constantly improving, looking for new facets of her talent. Nataliia strives to give people joy and inspiration through the magical power of opera.

Her triumphant performance at the Wagner Singing Society competition, where she won two awards. Dame Anne Evans of Sadler’s Wells Opera describes Nataliia as a «gifted and accomplished soprano of exceptional talent».

Known for dramatic and moving performances, “Nataliia Temnyk has a sublime voice. ‘Elsa’s Dream’ (Lohengrin) was superbly executed but it was the singing of Wagner’s ‘Ave Maria’ (Othello) that she brought the house down”. (ARTMUSELONDON)

At the charity concert for Ukraine in Kingston, her powerful and emotional performance mesmerized the audience and touched people’s hearts deeply.

Nataliia performs brilliantly on stage and generously shares her expertise with students. Her master classes are widely acclaimed, and students note her ability to provide clear and concise instruction that helps them improve their vocal and artistic skills.

Diane Baird, voice coordinator at Queen’s University in Kingston, emphasizes not only Nataliia’s vocal abilities but also her charismatic demeanour and sense of humour, which make her master classes not only useful but also interesting.

 

In the summer of 2024, Nataliia was honoured to participate at Highlands Opera Studio

Summer 2025 will take her to Italy to perform the role of Countess in Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro at Teatro Savoia in Campobasso Italy in a collaborative production between Camerata Bardi Academy and Teatro Grattacielo.
