On March 1st, 2024, an evening of song, dance and poetry was dedicated to the 210th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko, an outstanding Ukrainian poet and artist.
Ukrainian soprano, Nataliia Temnyk performed several Ukrainian art songs to the words of Shevchenko, such as “If I had shoes” (music by M. Skoryk) and “Oh, I’m alone, I’m alone”, (music by M. Lysenko).
“It is a great honor for me to perform at this evening and honor the memory of Taras Shevchenko,” said Temnyk after the concert. “His works are immortal and continue to inspire people all over the world”.
The evening became a real celebration of Ukrainian culture and unification for the Ukrainian community of Victoria.
